Police investigating robberies in Chatham

The Chatham-Kent Police Service are investigating a pair of robberies that took place in Chatham this week.

In the latest incident, police officials say last night around 7:45 p.m. officers responded to a disturbance on Colborne Street.

Upon arrival, police observed a 22-year-old man lying on the ground.

He had just been assaulted by an unknown suspect who fled the area on the man’s black Infinity bicycle valued at $200.

The man refused medical treatment from paramedics.

The suspect was described as a white man wearing all dark clothing.

In the second incident, police officials say on Monday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. a 59-year-old woman was walking on Taylor Avenue in Chatham when an unknown man grabbed her purse from her shoulder.

The force from this action caused the woman to fall to the ground.

The young white man was wearing a black baseball cap, army pants and black coat.

He fled the area on a bicycle and was last seen heading northbound on Taylor Avenue.

The woman did not require medical attention.
