Brodie scores, Seth scoreless, Wallaceburg Midget Rep’s win twice

Brodie scores

Dresden’s T.J. Brodie scored his first goal of the season for the Calgary Flames on Sunday.

Brodie opened the scoring for the Flames in the first period, but they would eventually fall to the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3.

The Dresden Minor Hockey product ended up picking up an assist in the game as well.

In 24 games this season, Brodie has 7 points.

Wallaceburg Midget Rep team is rolling

The Wallaceburg Midget Rep team had two big games this weekend on back-to-back nights.

Saturday’s game was in Wallaceburg and the home team would not disappoint.

They came away with a big win over Dresden by a final score of 11-1.

Sunday had the team traveling to Mount Brydges and once again Wallaceburg came out on top with a 4-1 win.

The Wallaceburg squad is still tied first place overall with a 10-2-1 record.

They will be looking to build on there winning streak in Wallaceburg this Friday night December 2 with a rare late start at 9:30 p.m.

Seth scoreless

Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith played in a pair of games for the Florida Panthers on the weekend, but failed to notch his name on the scoresheet.

The Panthers topped Columbus 2-1 in a shootout on Saturday. Griffith had no points in 8:36 minutes of ice time.

On Sunday, Carolina beat the Panthers 3-2. Griffith had one shot on goal in 8:26 minutes of ice time.

Florida made a change behind the bench on Sunday as well, letting go of head coach Gerard Gallant.

Panthers General Manager Tom Rowe has been named interim head coach for the remainder of the 2016-17 season.

Kings lose to Lakeshore

The Dresden Kings lost a close, back-and-forth game on Friday night in Lakeshore, by a score of 5-4.

Eric Carter, Geoffry VandenBoorn, Derek Shaw and Kevin Ritzer scored for the Kings.

Joel Sowinski made 26 saves in the loss.

Dresden sits in 6th place in the Hobbs Division with a 10-12-1 record.

The Kings will be in Lakeshore once again on Thursday, before hosting the Canadiens on Friday in their third straight game against the Belle River club.

Lakers fall to Blenheim

The Wallaceburg Lakers had a tough time on the road in Blenheim on Saturday.

The Blades topped the Lakers by a score of 10-4.

Brayden Kettlewell scored twice fro Wallaceburg, while Alec Segers and Josh Farrugia also scored in the loss.

Max Lozon made 3 saves on 5 shots in 5:38 minutes of ice time, while George Hill made 31 saves on 39 shots in 54:22 minutes of ice time.

The Lakers remain in last place in the Hobbs Division with a record of 1-19-1.

Wallaceburg will be in tough on Wednesday when they host the Essex 73s.

Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
