After an amazing comeback in the quarter finals of the OFSSA ‘AA’ senior girls basketball championships, the Wallaceburg Tartans came up short in a heartbreaker on Friday evening.
Down 21-9 after the first quarter and 29-15 after the first half to the #7 ranked LaSalle Black Knights from Kingston, the #2 ranked Tartans began mounting a comeback in the second half.
Wallaceburg trimmed the Black Knights lead to 4, 33-29 after three quarters. And eventually the Tartans rallied all the way back and led 43-41 with only seconds remaining.
That was until LaSalle’s Bryn Reynolds took an inbound pass:

The final score was 44-43 after the heroic deep three pointer from Reynolds.
Earlier in the day, Wallaceburg beat Immaculata handily by a score of 51-17.
The #3 ranked Notre Dame squad ended up winning the championship, knocking off the top seeded Mother Teresa team 53-49.
