Update: Chatham fire ruled accidental

A weekend blaze in Chatham, which caused $2 million damage, has been ruled accidental.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say early Sunday morning, police and fire personnel responded to a structure fire at the plaza, which housed Sacwal Flooring, Lighting and Accent Gallery and Ideal Decorating, on St. Clair Street in Chatham after a passerby called 911.

No one was injured.

Damage has been estimated at $2 million dollars.

The Ontario Fire Marshall was contacted to assist police and fire officials with determining the origin and cause of the fire.

Yesterday, the Ontario Fire Marshall completed their investigation and the fire was deemed accidental.
