Action will always trump inaction

From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

Someone once asked Billy Graham, “If Christianity is valid, why is there so much evil in the world?”

He replied, “With so much soap, why are there so many dirty people in the world? Christianity, like soap, must be personally applied if it is to make a difference in our lives.”

Colleges and universities are pumping a lot of information and knowledge into myriads of classrooms in our country, but only a handful of students actually convert this potential energy into viable results.

In Matthew 7:24-27 Jesus once told a parable of two men who each built a house.

They used the same building materials, and the same storms afflicted both homes.

The only difference was that one man’s house had a foundation of rock, while the other man used sand.

The storms devastated the house built on sand, but the house on the rock stood firm.

Our Lord stated that those who hear His words and put them into practice are the ones with the house on the rock.

Those who hear His words but do not act upon them are like the man with the foundation of sand.

To put it another way, food purchased at the grocery store has the potential of nourishing your body.

But, if you do not take it out of the refrigerator and work at preparing it, you will starve.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Action will always trump inaction.
