Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 6 p.m. last night, police responded to the report of a suspicious man inside a store in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was currently bound by conditions not to attend this business.

A 42-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with breaching his probation order.

He was released pending a future court date of November 19, 2019.

Man arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police located a man wanted for assault causing bodily harm and failing to attend court.

The 47-year-old Chatham man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Stolen ATV from Thamesville

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Saturday and Sunday, unknown suspects stole a red 2011 Honda TE3 ATV from a residence on Railroad Street.

The ATV did not have a license plate attached to it.

The value of the theft has been estimated at $5,000.

Theft in Wheatley

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime over the weekend, unknown suspects entered a garage on Julian Street and stole various power tools, valued at approximately $450.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, officers conducted traffic enforcement on Longwoods Road near Prince Albert Road.

A total of 13 tickets were issued to motorists for speeding along with other Highway Traffic Act offences.

Man charged with failing to remain at a motor vehicle collision

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning at 5 a.m. an officer on general patrol on in Chatham observed a blue-coloured pick-up truck travelling at a high rate of speed on McNaughton Avenue E.

The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, however, was unable to catch up to the vehicle before losing sight of it.

The officer continued to patrol the area and came across that same pick-up truck upside down in a ditch on Caledonia Road, just north of McNaughton Line.

When the officer approached the vehicle, the driver had already exited the truck and departed the area.

The driver was eventually located and initially lied to police about his involvement in the collision.

As a result of the investigation, the driver; a 22-year-old Chatham man, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

– Drive Motor Vehicle – No License

– Careless Driving

– Fail to Remain

– Public Mischief

He was later released from custody with a future court date.

Man charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday night at 8 p.m. the man and a woman that is known to him were inside a residence in Blenheim when they became involved in heated argument.

The argument turned physical when he pushed the woman up against a wall, grabbed her by the throat and hit her.

Police were called and through further investigation, officers learned of a previous incident where the man had threatened to kill the woman.

No physical injuries were reported.

The 25-year-old Leamington man was arrested and charged with uttering threats and three counts of assault.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.

Man arrested for being intoxicated in public

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early Sunday morning at 2 a.m. officers located the 28-year-old Wallaceburg man on Dufferin Avenue.

He was unable to care for himself and therefore, arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.

The man was transported to CKPS Headquarters where he has been held until sober.

Wanted man located and arrested

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On October 24 a 30-year-old man was located in Ridgetown with an outstanding warrant for Break and Enter.

The man was arrested and found to be in possession of property stolen during several other residential break and enters.

Further investigation also found the man to be breaching conditions of a probation order.

In total the man is facing one count of Break and Enter, three counts of Possession of Stolen Property and four counts of Breach of Probation.

The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested for shoplifting and possessing prohibited weapon

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On October 24 police responded to a shoplifting occurrence in Chatham.

A 37 year old man was located a short distance away and arrested for Theft and Possession of Stolen Property

The man was searched incident to arrest and found to be in possession of ‘brass knuckles’; a prohibited weapon in Canada.

The accused is bound by a Life Time Weapons Prohibition as well.

The man was further charged with Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Probation Order.

The man was held pending a bail hearing.
