Chatham-Kent draft budget set to be presented January 13

The 2021 Municipality of Chatham-Kent budget process will get underway on Wednesday, January 13 when the draft municipal budget will be presented to Council.

That marks the beginning of a political review process that will include several opportunities for public comment, Municipal officials say.

Calendar of events

All budget deliberation meetings will be broadcast live on YourTV as well as live streamed on the YourTV YouTube channel.

Community consultations will be broadcast on the Municipality of Chatham-Kent’s Facebook Live feed.

Opening Night:

Wednesday, January 13 at 6 pm the 2021 Budget to Chatham-Kent Council will be tabled.

There is an opportunity to submit a written deputation with the Budget Committee by emailing Budget and Performance Services at ckfps@chatham-kent.ca before 3 p.m. on January 13.

Time will be provided at the meeting for staff to read written information received from:

– Groups that may be requesting funding

– Organizations wishing to comment on the municipal budget process

Community Consultations:

A brief summary of the draft budget will be presented by administration at the beginning of each event. Three opportunities for public input have been scheduled as follows:

– Tuesday, January 19 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

– Wednesday, January 20 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

– Thursday, January 21 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Budget Committee Deliberations:

– January 27 and 28 and February 2 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

If more time is required, February 3 and 4 have also been set aside if needed.

Written deputations of up to five minutes in length are welcome each evening.

Submissions must be made by emailing ckfps@chatham-kent.ca before 3 p.m. each day.
