Two active COVID-19 cases on Walpole Island

The number of active COVID-19 cases has increased on Walpole Island.

Officials on the First Nation reserve announced on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 that there are now two active cases in the community.

This brings the total number of positive cases to 25 in the community since the pandemic began last March.

Walpole Island officials say 499 residents have been tested for COVID-19, with 465 negative results and there are nine results pending as well.

There have been 22 recoveries on Walpole and one death.

Walpole Island officials say if residents are experiencing symptoms, they should self-isolate immediately and call the Walpole Island Health Centre at 519-627-0765 or after hours, call Telehealth at 1-866-797-0000.
