Man arrested for assault police

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On May 22, 2021 at approximately 10 p.m. the Chatham-Kent Police responded to a neighbour dispute in Chatham.

A conflict had arisen over the use of fireworks and police were required to attend.

During the investigation one of the involved persons became irate and attempted to physically remove an officer from his property.

This resulted in the 50-year-old man being arrested for assaulting a police officer.

The man was released with a Form 10 and a future court date.

Pursuit

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On May 22, 2021 members of the Chatham-Kent Police were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Longwoods Road in Thamesville.

A motor vehicle approached the R.I.D.E. and began to slow as it approached.

As it reached the officers it accelerated at a high rate of speed.

A short pursuit was discontinued out of concern for public safety.

Impaired driver arrested

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On 2May 23, 2021 an officer was on general patrol on Chatham.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation determined the driver to be intoxicated.

The driver was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters to provide breath samples.

The 21-year-old man registered readings exceeding the legal limit and was charged with Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and Operation of a Conveyance – Blood Alcohol Concentraion Over 80mg/100mL.
