CK Trail Challenge launched

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent Parks, Recreation and Cemeteries in partnership with Chatham-Kent Public Health, The Chatham-Kent Trails Council, Ontario Parks, Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority would like to invite residents to participate in this year’s CK Trail Challenge.

Bike Month Contest takes place from August 1- September 4, 2021 and encourages residents to rediscover the benefits of all forms of Active Transportation which includes cycling, walking, running, skateboarding, rollerblading and more.

Municipal officials say Active Transportation improves physical health, reducing emissions and air pollution and relieves stress.

“Throughout and at the end of this event, we will be tracking all of our collective activity from the community and calculating how far we travelled as a group,” Municipal officials said in a media release.

“Let’s see how far we can go.”

How to Enter:

– Enter the following link into your internet browser: https://forms.gle/7PycsLnVaSkfdb8M6

– Fill in the Google Form each day that you engage in Active Transportation

– Six names will be chosen weekly

– Each week six names will be randomly chosen and featured on the Chatham Kent Trails Social Media pages.

“Those featured will win prize packs from Chatham-Kent Trails, Public Health, Ontario Parks and Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority, Canadian Tire, JRB Electric, Boston Pizza, Quo Vadis, Smith Cycle, McKinley Funeral Home, Wallaceburg Trails and Howard Mutual and more,” Municipal officials say.

“What’s in the Prize Packs vary as we have five different prize pack styles set up based on those donations received from the above contributors.”

Residents can learn more about Chatham-Kent’s bike lanes, trails, active transportation and safe cycling, here.

Alternatively, the Chatham-Kent Trail Booklet, the Chatham-Kent Safe Cycling Handbook and the Chatham-Kent Cycling Map can all be found at any open Municipal Service Centre, Libraries for curbside pick-up, Rondeau Provincial Park and Smith Cycle.
