The Pan-African flag, recognizing the ordeal of the transatlantic slave trade, was raised by Mayor Darrin Canniff earlier this week at the Civic Centre in observance of Emancipation Month.
The tri-coloured flag is made of red, black and green colours.
The red represents the blood shed by the African people, the black represents the African people themselves and the green stands for the abundant wealth of Mother Africa.
Councillor Marjorie Crew organized the event that was attended by representatives of Black Mecca and the Buxton Museum and the CK Black Historical Society
