Active COVID-19 case count at 112 in Chatham-Kent

Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials updated their ‘current status’ page of their website on Thursday, September 9, 2021.

The active COVID-19 case count has risen to 112, nine more than on Wednesday.

Public health officials say 74.7% of the active cases are unvaccinated, 11.8% are partially vaccinated, 7.7% are unknown and 5.9% are fully vaccinated. These figures are as of September 4, 2021, public health officials say.

A total of nine people with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent are hospitalized, one less than on Wednesday.

The total number of COVID-19 cases is 2,164 across Chatham-Kent, 18 more than on Wednesday.

A total of 2,035 cases have been resolved.

A total of 65 active cases are linked to close contact, 25 cases have information pending, 14 cases are unknown, seven cases are outbreak related and one case is linked to travel.

One confirmed student case was announced by Lambton-Kent District School Board officials on Thursday at John McGregor Secondary School in Chatham.

Reports say approximately 25 students were sent home after coming into contact with the student.

A un-named workplace outbreak remains active.

This outbreak was first declared on September 7, 2021 and involves four total cases.

An outbreak at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, within the Medicine A Unit of hospital in Chatham, remains active.

This outbreak was first declared on September 6, 2021 and involves two total cases.

CK Public Health officials say the Delta variant continues to be the predominant circulating variant of concern in Chatham-Kent and Ontario.

“The majority of current cases among people living in CK have initial mutation screening results in line with the Delta variant,” public health officials added.

Public health officials say a total of 138,749 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 73,878 people 12+ have received at least one dose and 67,676 people 12+ have received two doses.

A total of 129,012 tests for the virus have been completed to date.

Since the pandemic began in March of 2020, a total of 17 people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.
