Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials updated the ‘current status’ page of their website on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
The active COVID-19 case count rose to 140, two more than on Monday.
A total of 15 people with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent are hospitalized, nine more than on Monday.
The total number of COVID-19 cases is 3,097 across Chatham-Kent, 15 more than on Monday.
A total of 2,933 cases have been resolved.
A total of 66 active cases are linked to close contact, 36 cases have information pending, 20 cases are outbreak related, 16 cases are unknown and two are linked to travel.

Dr. David Colby, the Medical Officer of Health in Chatham-Kent, provided some instructions regarding capacity limits and additional requirements in letter issued on Monday, December 6, 2021. Read the full letter, here.
“We are doing our best to control the spread of this virus, but we need our residents to step up and increase their diligence to help prevent overloading of our local healthcare capacity,” stated Dr. David Colby, Chatham-Kent’s Medical Officer of Health, in a separate media release (more details here).
“This is a very clear request. Vaccination helps greatly, but regardless of your vaccination status, if you are not feeling well, do not leave your home or invite other people into your home.”
Public health officials say eight outbreaks are active across Chatham-Kent:
– An outbreak at Elementary School Catholic Saint-Marie in Chatham, declared on December 6, 2021, involves three cases.
– An outbreak at Harwich Raleigh Public School in Blenheim, declared on December 2, 2021, involves three cases.
– An outbreak at an un-named manufacturing workplace, declared on December 2, 2021, involves eight cases.
– An outbreak at St. Anne Catholic School in Blenheim, declared on December 2, 2021, involves two cases.
– An outbreak at Winston Churchill Public School in Chatham, declared on December 2, 2021, involves two cases.
– An outbreak at Dresden Area Central School, declared on November 30, 2021, involves three cases.
– An outbreak at Elementary School Catholic Saint-Francis in Tilbury, declared on November 23, 2021, involves two cases.
– An outbreak at an un-named place of worship, declared on November 15, 2021, involves 13 cases.
CK Public Health officials say the Delta variant continues to be the predominant circulating variant of concern in Chatham-Kent and Ontario.
“The majority of current cases among people living in CK have initial mutation screening results in line with the Delta variant,” public health officials added.
Public health officials say a total of 158,156 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 80,989 people 12+ have received at least one dose and 77,659 people 12+ have received two doses.
Since the pandemic began in March of 2020, a total of 24 Chatham-Kent residents have died from COVID-19.
