Man arrested twice in same day
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On December 23, 2020 the man was released from Court with several conditions.
One of those conditions stated that he was not to possess any weapons.
Yesterday morning, police responded to an altercation in Chatham where the man brandished a knife while arguing with two men.
The 44-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with his release conditions.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing and released from Court with several conditions.
One of those conditions stated that he was not to attend the property where the altercation in the morning occurred.
Yesterday afternoon, the man returned to the property and was arrested again.
He has been charged with failing to comply with his release conditions and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Woman charged with facilitating a breach
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On October 13, 2021 a man was released from Court with conditions not to communicate or associate with a specific woman.
Yesterday, police learned that the woman was attempting to communicate with the man through social media.
The 19-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with two counts of facilitating a breach.
She was released pending a future court date of January 12, 2022.
Man charged with impaired driving
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Princess Street in Chatham.
Through investigation, police believed the man was driving while under the influence and he was arrested.
The man was transported to police headquarters where a Drug Recognition Expert conducted an evaluation.
As a result, the DRE officer believed the man was impaired by a drug.
A 30-year-old Chatham man was charged with impaired driving and driving while prohibited.
He was released pending a future court date of January 13, 2022.
Man charged with mischief
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the man attended the home of a woman, with whom he was not to associate with.
While at the home, the man damaged a vehicle in the driveway with a hammer.
Last night, police located the man and he was arrested.
The 57-year-old Chatham man was charged with mischief under $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with his Probation Order.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Traffic enforcement
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police conducted traffic enforcement on Mill Street West in Tilbury.
Five motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police conducted traffic enforcement on Cherry Street in Bothwell.
Three motorists were stopped and charged with speeding through the Community Safety Zone.
Theft of trailer and aluminum
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Friday at 5 p.m. and Monday at 8 a.m. unknown suspects forced their way into a fenced compound on Payne Street.
Once inside, the suspects stole a utility trailer and approximately $500 worth of aluminum.
Yesterday afternoon, police located the stolen trailer, damaged, on Adelaide Street South.
