Police: B&E in Chatham, impaired driving, curfew breach

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At approximately 12:30 a.m. today, police attended an address on Joseph Street, in Chatham in response to a call of a break and enter.

An unknown suspects forced their way into the home and stole a wallet which contained cash, credit cards and personal identification.

Man charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Sunday, December 19, 2021 at approximately 8 a.m., officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Grand River Line, Chatham.

The officer approached the vehicle and through investigation believed the man was driving while under the influence of a drug.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters where a Drug Recognition Expert conducted an evaluation.

As a result, the DRE officer believed the man was impaired by a drug.

The 40-year-old Chatham man was charged with impaired driving by drug.

Man charged with breaching curfew

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At approximately 4 a.m. today, an officer on general patrol observed a male party waking near Queen Street, Tilbury.

The man, known to police, was under a court order to obey a curfew between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.

A 40-year-old Tilbury man was charged with failing to comply with his release conditions, arrested, and later released with a future court date of January 19, 2021 to answer to the charge.
