Significant rainfall possible Wednesday

A special weather statement has been issued across Chatham-Kent, as significant rainfall is possible for Wednesday.

Environment Canada officials say anticipated hazards, include: rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm, which may lead to localized flooding in low-lying areas.

The timing is Wednesday and into evening.

“Rain is expected to begin tonight and become heavy sometimes Wednesday late afternoon or early evening,” forecasters say.

“Total rainfall up to 25 mm is possible before rain tapers off Wednesday night. The partially frozen ground may have a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall, and localized flooding in low-lying areas may be possible.”

Forecasters added: “For information concerning flooding, consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry office.”
