Youth arrested for mischief and assaulting a police officer

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 10:03 a.m., police responded to a disturbance on Mill Street in Tilbury.

Police arrived in the area and located the youth on Centre Street.

The youth was uncooperative and belligerent with the police.

Police recognized the youth from previous encounters and confirmed he was wanted for an assault investigation on April 4, 2023.

When police attempted to arrest the youth, the youth kicked the cruiser and struck the vehicle several times, causing damage.

The youth also kicked two officers while being placed inside the cruiser.

The 17-year-old Chatham youth was charged with breaking and entering, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and two counts of assault from an April 4, 2023 investigation and mischief and assaulting a police officer for the April 5, 2023 investigation.

He was transported to police headquarters, where he was held for bail.

As a result, the youth was be transported to a youth facility in the Niagara Region.

Man arrested for weapons offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On February 9, 2023, at 7:18 p.m., police responded to Bruce Street in Wallaceburg for a mischief investigation.

Through investigation, police learned the victims were at an address on Reaume Street when the man approached their car with an axe, yelling.

The man struck the vehicle with the axe causing damage to the windshield.

The victims left the area and contacted the police.

After numerous attempts to locate the man, a warrant was sought for his arrest.

On April 5, 2023, at 10:48 a.m., the man attended CKPS headquarters and turned himself in to the police.

The 38-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with mischief and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was released with conditions and a future court date of May 8, 2023

Man arrested for breaching a probation order

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 1:31 p.m., while investigating another matter, police located the man on Victoria Avenue in Chatham.

The officer confirmed the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for breaching a probation order and arrested the man.

The 44-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to comply with a probation order and failing to attend court.

He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested for theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 1, 2023, at 6:46 p.m., police responded to a Queen Street business in Chatham for a theft investigation.

Police learned the man entered the business, removed merchandise from the shelves, and left the store without paying for the items.

Through surveillance video, police were able to identify the man.

On April 6, 2023, at 1:41 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Park Street in Chatham and located the man.

Police confirmed he was wanted for a theft investigation, and he was arrested.

The 44-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft and possession of the stolen property.

He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
