Traffic stop leads to drug and weapons charges at Sarnia motel

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: Sarnia police seized drugs, weapons and cash following a patrol at a motel on London Line on September 26.

An officer spotted a U-Haul truck around 9:53 p.m. with several people standing nearby. When police approached, they saw drug paraphernalia in plain sight inside the vehicle. Officers attempted to arrest a woman connected to the vehicle but were interrupted by an agitated man who tried to intervene.

The man resisted arrest but was taken into custody. A search uncovered multiple types of suspected illegal drugs, cash and scales, which police say are consistent with drug trafficking. A search of the woman revealed methamphetamine, a scale and cash.

A further search of the truck led to the discovery of additional drugs, drug paraphernalia, two homemade conducted energy weapons and a flare gun with ammunition.

Police say the man was remanded into custody after a bail hearing, while the woman was released on conditions.
