Minister Dunlop visits St. Clair to highlight emergency preparedness funding

Ontario’s Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response, Jill Dunlop, visited St. Clair Township on Friday to tour the municipality’s emergency operations centre and view new equipment purchased through the province’s Community Emergency Preparedness Grant (CEPG).

“It was a pleasure visiting the Township of St. Clair and seeing firsthand their strong emergency response capabilities. Through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant, 114 Ontario communities are receiving a combined $5 million in 2025 for critical supplies, equipment, and training, including St. Clair. This funding is part of our government’s commitment to strengthening community readiness and ensuring Ontario’s resilience in the face of emergencies,” said Dunlop.

The Township of St. Clair received $50,000 through the 2024–25 CEPG to purchase new radio equipment, a long-range tactical camera and other tools to enhance emergency communication.

Dunlop was joined by Sarnia–Lambton MPP Bob Bailey, St. Clair Mayor Jeff Agar, and Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Services Richard Boyes for the tour. The visit also included a demonstration of the township’s new virtual reality training program for firefighters.
