TILBURY — This year’s Holiday Smile Cookie campaign at the Tilbury Tim Hortons has raised $6,300, with half of the proceeds supporting the Tilbury Information & H.E.L.P. Centre, a United Way program offering emergency food and housing assistance.
The cheque presentation took place Thursday morning at the Mill Street location. United Way Centraide Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent CEO Lorraine Goddard and owner-operator Cara Gragtmans joined staff to celebrate the community’s support. Goddard said the contribution will have an immediate effect on local families.
“These funds are a frontline lifeline,” she said. “The Tilbury Information & H.E.L.P. Centre provides emergency food assistance, guidance for safe housing, and access to essential services for families in Tilbury and neighbouring areas. This donation will immediately impact lives this winter.”
The campaign ran from Nov. 17 to 23, with 50 per cent of each Holiday Smile Cookie sale directed to the Tilbury centre and the remaining proceeds supporting Tim Hortons Foundation Camp Days.
The Tilbury Information & H.E.L.P. Centre offers emergency food support, help with social housing applications, resume assistance and computer access for residents in need.
