Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent police have laid charges following an investigation into a serious aggravated assault in the municipality.
Police said that on March 24, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers were notified by the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance that a male had attended hospital suffering from serious stab wounds. The victim was later transported to the London Health Sciences Centre and remains in stable condition.
Investigators determined the incident occurred at a residence on Alexandra Avenue in Chatham. Police said the victim was in the company of several other individuals when a physical altercation involving multiple parties took place. During the altercation, the victim sustained multiple stab wounds and was able to flee the residence to seek medical attention.
Officers attended the residence and safely contained the situation, taking all involved parties into custody without incident.
Police said a 22-year-old male from Chatham-Kent and a 25-year-old male from Chatham have each been charged with aggravated assault. The 22-year-old male has also been charged with failure to comply with a probation order.
One youth has also been charged with aggravated assault. In accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, no further information regarding the youth can be released.
All accused individuals were held in custody pending bail hearings. Police said the incident was isolated and there is no ongoing risk to public safety.
