Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent Police Service say a 40-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing charges following a shoplifting investigation on St. Clair Street.
Police say officers responded to a retail store around 10:09 p.m. on April 8 after receiving a report of theft. Investigators determined a male suspect entered the store, selected multiple items and left without paying.
Officers later located the suspect on St. Clair Street and recovered the stolen items.
The accused, a 40-year-old male from Chatham-Kent, has been charged with possession under $5,000 and theft under $5,000. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date.
