Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 15, 2019 and November 19, 2020 a man entered into Probation Orders with several conditions.

Two of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific Chatham woman or attend her home.

This summer, the man has been observed in the woman’s home several times.

Yesterday morning, police located the man and he was arrested.

The 45-year-old Chatham man has been charged with four counts of failing to comply with his Probation Order.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing and remanded until August 25, 2021.

Man charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, just before midnight, police responded to a disturbance on Fifth Street in Chatham between two men who live in the same building.

A 22-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault.

He was released pending a future court date of September 21, 2021.

Traffic stop leads to arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 3 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Countryview Line.

The officer recorded the man driving 110km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

The man also disobeyed a stop sign.

A traffic stop was initiated near Bear Line Road.

Through investigation, the officer learned that the license plates were not authorized for the vehicle nor did the man have a valid permit or insurance.

The man was also currently under house arrest.

The 31-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with:

– speeding

– disobeying a stop sign

– using plates not authorized for the vehicle

– driving with no currently validated permit

– operating a motor vehicle with no insurance

– failing to comply with his release conditions

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Theft of tools in Wheatley

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning, unknown suspects entered a shed on Chestnut Street and stole approximately $500 worth of various tools.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime over the past two weeks, unknown suspects entered a shed on King Street East and stole:

– generator

– sawzall

– weed trimmer

– power washer

– jig saw

– drill set

– Snap-on tools

– Guitar

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $2,000.

Motor vehicle collision

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning around 10 a.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Kent Bridge Road near Longwoods Road.

Minor injuries were reported.

Total damage was estimated at $10,000.

The driver responsible for the collision was charged with making a left turn and failing to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid a collision.

The other driver was charged with driving with no license.
