Police: Fraud Prevention Month, stolen vehicle found abandoned, domestic

Domestic disturbance

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg.

As a result of the investigation a 27-year old male was arrested for two counts of Assault and Mischief Under $5,000.

The male was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters for booking and later released with a future court date of March 28, 2022.

Stolen vehicle recovered

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On February 28, police responded to a residence on Dashwheel Line outside of Tilbury in relation to a theft of motor vehicle that had occurred sometime within the 24 hours before police attended.

Just after midnight on March 1, an officer observed the stolen vehicle and initiated a traffic stop; however, the driver failed to stop.

For public safety reasons, the pursuit was terminated.

The officer later located the vehicle abandoned near Bloomfield and 8th Line.

The property was recovered and returned to the rightful owner.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Police continue to receive reports of suspicious phone calls from people purporting to be from the CRA, Boarder Services, Banking Institutions and/or Services and.

Scammers may use threatening language or an aggressive tone to scare you into making payments.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone that personal or financial information should never be given over the phone, especially if you didn’t initiate the call.

If you receive a suspicious email, please refrain from clicking any links, and delete the email immediately.
