Shoplifting incidents in Chatham leads to charges in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On May 9, 2025, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to reports of shoplifting from three retail store locations in Chatham.

A description was provided indicating that the suspects were using an identifiable rental vehicle.

The vehicle was later observed in Wallaceburg and stopped by police.

Upon investigation, officers obtained evidence linking the vehicle to thefts at all three locations.

One individual, a 36-year-old male from Windsor, was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000.

The accused was released with conditions and a scheduled future court date of June 16, 2025.

The second suspect has not yet been located.

Police are actively seeking to identify and locate this individual.
