Man held for bail after probation breach in Harwich

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham man is being held for bail following an alleged breach of probation in Harwich.

On January 20, 2026, at approximately 1:09 a.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of an individual violating the conditions of a probation order at a residence on Burk Line.

Police determined that a 31-year-old man from Chatham was bound by several probation conditions, including restrictions on contacting certain individuals and attending specific locations, except for required court appearances. Officers attended the residence and located the man inside.

He was arrested and charged with failure to comply with probation. Further investigation confirmed that he was also wanted on three outstanding warrants related to previous probation breaches.

The man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, where he remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
