The Lambton Kent District School Board is celebrating Education Week 2026 with a focus on the role communities play in supporting student learning.
In a release dated May 4, the board said this year’s theme, “Learning That Unites Us,” highlights the shared journey of education across Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent.
“Across Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent, learning begins long before a student walks through the doors of an LKDSB school — it begins in the heart of our communities,” the board said.
The board recognized the contributions of families, educators, local businesses, Indigenous partners, service clubs, cultural organizations and community members in supporting students from early years through graduation.
“Students grow with the guidance of families, educators, local businesses, Indigenous partners, service clubs, cultural organizations, and caring neighbours who believe in their potential,” the release said.
The board also emphasized that learning extends beyond the classroom to spaces such as arenas, libraries, workplaces, community centres and homes, creating a broader network of support for students.
“Learning happens everywhere — in classrooms, arenas, libraries, workplaces, community centres, and homes,” the board said.
Throughout the week, the board said it will recognize partnerships and relationships that contribute to student well-being, identity and opportunity.
“When we learn together, grow together, and support one another, we are united,” the release said.
“United for our students. United for our communities. United in learning.”
Residents are invited to watch the board’s Education Week video and take part in celebrating the partnerships that support students across the region.
