Baldoon Golf Club in Wallaceburg has a fun opportunity available for boys and girls ages 11-18 this summer.

Registrations are now being accepted for the Junior Golf League.

Ryan Gurd, the director of golf at Baldoon, says its a chance for kids to play some golf and have fun.

ā€œThe league part is just for the kids to go out and play nine holes,ā€ he said. ā€œThey will go out as foursomes, keep score, learn the game or teach others the game, help each other along the way and have some fun out there.ā€

Gurd said he will be holding a 30-minute clinic beforehand to help the kids.

ā€œIā€™m offering them a service of helping them with their game beforehand if they want to improve on it,ā€ Gurd said. ā€œIf the kids want to practice their long-game, or their chipping and putting, I can help them with that.ā€

Gurd said they are trying to rejuvenate the league and get new faces out.

ā€œWeā€™re trying to promote the juniors to get back into golf,ā€ he said. ā€œ I remember my dad back in the day, back in 1999, we started it and it grew to 100 people. Weā€™re trying to get that back to where it used to be.ā€

Gurd said there the league will run Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The first league night is June 5th and it will run every Thursday until August 28, which will be the season-end banquet night.

Registration is $45, and if the junior is not a member, $10 a week to play nine holes.

Call the Pro Shop at 519-627-2366 or visit Ryan in the Pro Shop to get signed up.

ā€œWe encourage any junior to come out and play, space is not limited,ā€ Gurd added.
