Police: Vehicle stolen in Wallaceburg, impaired driving charges laid after crash

Theft of motor vehicle

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: In the area of Dufferin Ave Wallaceburg at 3:08 p.m. on Friday a vehicle was stolen while in a parking lot.

Police located the vehicle that had gotten into a collision down the road.

There was over $500 damage to the vehicle and the suspect fled the scene, however, police were able to identify the suspect and will be seeking a warrant for his arrest.

Ambulance assist

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 4:48 p.m. yesterday police responded to CMHA building in response to a man allegedly high on drugs, being combative with staff members and paramedics.

Officers arrived on scene and arrested the 29-year-old Chatham man for breach of peace.

The male was cleared medically then transported to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters and later released.

Impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 5:04 p.m. on Friday police responded to the area of Grand River Line, Chatham, in response to a suspected impaired driver.

Police located the vehicle rolled over onto its side and arrested the 61-year-old woman for impaired driving.

She was transported to Chatham Kent Police Headquarters and later released.

Stolen vehicle

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 7:04 p.m. police located a stolen van near the Ridgetown Inn.

Police observed two 41-year-old Chatham males enter the stolen vehicle and as they did, police approached them and placed them under arrest.

Police charged them with possession of stolen property and further learned that both males were involved in a break and enter earlier in the day.

The males were additionally charged and transported to Chatham Kent Police headquarters and held for bail.
