Man charged with drug possession

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to the report of suspicious people in a vehicle on Selkirk Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the Jeep Grand Cherokee was parked on the roadway with no license plates.

The vehicle was towed from the roadway.

A 35-year-old Chatham man was additionally found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

He was arrested and charged with drug possession.

He was released pending a future court date of July 29, 2021.

Man charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a disturbance at Walmart in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, police learned that the man, who was a customer in the store, threatened and assaulted an employee.

A 46-year-old Windsor man was arrested and charged with assault and uttering threats.

He was released pending a future court date of July 30, 2021.

Man charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 1:30 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on Dover Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, the officer believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 32-year-old Chatham man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released pending a future court date of July 6, 2021.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early yesterday morning, unknown suspects forced their way into a vacant house on Wade Street, causing about $2,000 damage.

Once inside, the suspects broke kitchen cupboards to access a stainless steel Bosch dishwasher, valued at $1,200.

Theft from church in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 4:30 a.m. this morning, police responded to an alarm at St. Andrew’s United Church on William Street.

Through investigation, police learned that unknown suspects entered the church and stole a computer.
