Impaired driving charge laid after erratic driving report

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham man is facing impaired driving-related charges following a report of erratic driving.

Chatham-Kent Police Service say officers responded at approximately 8:43 p.m. on Dec. 19, 2025, to reports of a vehicle being driven erratically in a local business parking lot and surrounding area in Chatham. Police located the vehicle near St. Clair Road and Pine Line in Dover Township, where the driver, a 35-year-old man from Chatham, was found to be impaired.

He was arrested and charged with dangerous driving and operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs. Police say he later provided two breath samples that registered as failed and was additionally charged with operating while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus. He was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 5, 2026.
